Inside Pt. IV

Sec stopped near the edge of a mirror finish pool, another door passed seemingly another just ahead. She couldn’t have said whether this was the tenth or ten thousandth door she’d walked through, the dreamlike nature of this place made keeping count of things like that very difficult.

One thing Sec could say though is that she knew this place, she’d known almost all of the places she could remember passing through. It was a distinct feeling from the familiarity she’d felt when she’d first encountered the avatar, she knew that place because it was where she was in the physical world. No, this and the others were places significant to her, to First, places from old memory, from a life lived millennia ago. What it really meant was that at least some part of First’s core memories remained, maybe fragmented, but pieces were still there, there was hope.

She stepped forward, her silent guide turning and walking towards the next door.
